CACHIA ZAMMIT. On July 30, at Mater Dei Hospital, Dr ALEXANDER (Sandy) CACHIA ZAMMIT, aged 89, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his beloved wife Doris, née Martin, his children Kathryn and her husband John Gambin and John and his wife Daniela, his grandchildren Julian, Adrian, Alexander, Edward, Francesca, Richard and Andrew, his sisters Teresa and Margaret and his sisters-in-law Blanche, May, Terry, Rose and Connie, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be concelebrated today at 9.30am at St Catherine’s parish church, Żejtun. The funeral cortège will then proceed to St Gregory’s Cemetery, Żejtun, accompanied by the Beland Band, of which he was president for the last 54 years. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, and to the Poor Clare Sisters (Klarissi), St Julians, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Road closure

Manuel Dimech Street in Sliema will be closed to traffic tomorrow between 8am and 6pm because of the dismantling of a tower crane. All vehicles from The Strand will be diverted onto Tower Road.

St Joseph Street will not be accessible to vehicles coming down from St Trophimus Street. Traffic coming down from St Pius V Street will be diverted onto The Strand.

Bus Route number 21 to Valletta will be diverted onto The Strand, Abate Rigord Street, Triq il-Ġnien, Testaferrata Styreet, Enrico Mizzi Street, Rue d’Argens, Princess Margaret Street and Abate Rigord Street. There will be no route diversions on the return journey from Valletta.
