Reference is made to the letter by Joe Izzo under the heading ‘English as she is pronounced’ (July 17).

It will give me a great shock were any of my children to address me as ‘ded’ (dead?) instead of ‘dad’.

I shall feel that I am slow, useless, gone, kaput.

I have always been, and still am, ‘dad’ to them all, bless them.
