I received a couple of registered letters over the last few weeks from Italy and from Malta. Each and every time the postal operator left a note stating that he tried to deliver an item but, unfortunately, I was out.

Unfortunately for Maltapost, on all occasions there was someone at home, either myself or my parents in Malta on vacation.

Maltapost offers a free second attempt to get the item delivered the day after the first attempt, however, not even on the second day were the registered letters delivered, even when everyone or part of the family was at home.

When reporting the incidents to the Maltapost customer service department I was informed that the postal operator did try to deliver the registered letters, however, they explained that he was not obliged to exceed more than 4.5 metres from the main entrance due to health and safety.

So why doesn’t Maltapost change the sentence on the registered mail notification to “Tried to deliver an item, however, unfortunately you have a few steps and I am unable to climb them”?
