Prime Minister Joseph Muscat will next week be signing a "ground-breaking" memorandum of understanding with China during a visit.

Addressing a business breakfast hosted by the Malta Business Weekly, Dr Muscat said this five-year agreement will cover almost all aspects of the Maltese economy.

He said the agreement has been in the making for the last year and will include investments and strategic partnership.

Earlier, Dr Muscat also said the government is setting up a joint venture with private industry to promote Maltese exports and help Maltese businesses obtain a presence at international events, conduct research, assist in trade finance and create and develop new platforms on which to compete internationally.
