The police are questioning a man following a hit and run accident this morning in which a 75-year-old woman lost her life.

Maria MacKay, from Msida, was crossing the road at a pelican crossing in Valley Road, Msida at around 10.45am when she was hit by a sewage bowser.

The police this afternoon located the bowser they believe hit the woman and it is currently undergoing forensic tests. The bowser, belonging to Spiteri Drainage Services, is currently being held at the Water Services Department in Sliema.

A magisterial inquiry is being held.
