An environment tribunal has upheld a request to sanction an illegally-built boathouse in Dwejra, limits of San Lawrenz.

The request was to sanction a boathouse outside the development zone in Dwejra, limits of San Lawrenz, which is classified as a Special Area of Conservation. There was also an enforcement notice on the building.

The original request to sanction had been turned down by a planning commission because it “went against public interest and proper planning” in light of its location.

The applicant lowered a boundary wall and removed a projection at roof level before the structure was sanctioned.
