Balzan midfielder Fabio Vignaroli is unlikely to play again this season after he was handed a four-match ban for his red card in the 1-0 defeat to Birkirkara last Saturday.

Vignaroli was sent off 16 minutes from time after getting a second yellow card for a clumsy tackle on Birkirkara’s Ryan Camenzuli. His dismissal triggered an automatic one-match suspension but Vignaroli was handed an additional three-match ban after referee Andre Arciola wrote in his match report that the Italian reacted aggressively after his dismissal.

George Borg, Balzan’s team manager, was given a two-match touchline ban for remarks he passed to Arciola after the end of Saturday’s clash.

Birkirkara’s Joseph Zerafa was banned for two games after he was red-carded for a late tackle on Balzan’s Pedrinho in the 61st minute of Saturday’s match.

Admir Vladavic, Sliema’s Bosnian forward, also received a two-match ban after being sent off for hitting Valletta midfielder Irakli Maisuradze during Sunday’s match. Valletta won 2-0.

Mosta goalkeeper Omar Borg and Montenegrin striker Bojan Kaljevic will miss Sunday’s match against Birkirkara after both received a one-match ban for four yellow cards.

Hibs defender Jonathan Pearson, banned for four bookings, has been ruled out of his team’s clash with Valletta on Sunday.

Qormi will be without Brazilian midfielder Gabriel and Italian midfielder Simone Quintieri, both suspended for four cautions, for their match against relegated side Rabat Ajax on Saturday.

Rabat Ajax midfielder Joseph Caruana was also banned for one match.

Tarxien Rainbows have lost two players, Carlo Mamo (red card) and Karl Pulo (four bookings) for their game against Naxxar Lions on Saturday.

The latter will have to make do without forward Gilmar who was suspended for four yellow cards.
