Malta’s central position in the Mediterranean, right on the sea passage between the east and the west, has served us well through history.

In terms of our position specifically for oil and gas related logistics, the area in which Medserv specialises, Malta is fortunate to be positioned within close proximity to the oil and gas wells in the Central Mediterranean and North Africa. Besides proximity to the drilling zones, Medserv is also ideally positioned to service rigs and drilling vessels in transit from projects in the Atlantic and West Africa to the eastern Mediterranean and the Far East.

In order to offer excellent logistics services, you need a supportive infrastructure. Malta’s communications infrastructure and connectivity is excellent. Our airport is well connected and transit is efficient. Being an island obviously has some drawbacks such as making shipping and transportation of equipment slightly more costly. However, Medserv’s professional and competent human resource together with the stability of its support infrastructure have allowed the company to gain a reputation for excellence. The country’s economic and political stability have also been contributing factors.

Medserv was set up in 1974 and since then, logistics services have changed and developed. Quality as well as health and safety regulations have become much more stringent and sophisticated, making experience in the sector even more important. Service levels can make or break a company. A client today operates with zero tolerance for bad service or negligence and Medserv has put all its efforts into making sure it provided its clients with quality value add. Unless you are able to provide value added, clients will simply move on. Mistakes, downtime and poor service are simply too costly in the industry.

Medserv specialises in making sure its clients in the oil and gas industry receive all the support they need to carry out their operations safely and expediently. Over the years Medserv’s service portfolio has been shaped according to its clients’ needs. Medserv is one of the few operators in the Mediterranean that can provide a state of the art mud plant facility and the only one to date that can cater for high volumes and high mud densities. Recently, Medserv has also diversified and now offers rig and vessel maintenance and upgrade services.

Medserv’s reputation today precedes it and the company has gained recognition in the industry. Clients today are approaching the company to support them and manage support bases outside of Malta’s shores. Medserv has been approached by clients looking for support in the eastern Mediterranean, West Africa and even as far as India. Translating these requests to actual projects has a long lead time due to the nature of the business, but the company is extremely satisfied with the way things are unfolding and incredibly proud of the reputation of the Medserv brand. Cyprus is the first base outside of the central Mediterranean that Medserv will be operating from. Facilities have been secured and a team is in place.
