The Valletta International Baroque Festival will return later this month, bringing with it a number of world class acts.

Addressing a press conference at the beautifully restored baroque St Catherine’s Church in Valletta, festival artistic director Kenneth Zammit Tabona said the two-week extravaganza would be bigger than ever.

Last year more than 6,000 people attended the plethora of events and this year some 2,000 tourists are flying in to attend, he said.

The festival will include concertos by soloists Marco Sollini and Salvatore Barbatano.

Baroque dancing lessons and baroque themed toi toi children’s events will be held.

Culture Parliamentary Secretary José Herrera said the festival celebrated Valletta’s Baroque patrimony, opening it up for the public.

Tickets are available from the Manoel Theatre box office.
