I refer to the article about the closure of the Tal-Qroqq national pool car park (The Sunday Times of Malta, October 20).

Obviously, Parliamentary Secretary Stefan Buontempo is not living in the real world. To close down a car park in an area that is frequented by thousands of people is beyond belief, especially now that finding parking spaces has become more difficult.

Buontempo said: “Parents taking their children to school do not enter the premises with their own car but park outside [the school, I presume] in an orderly manner and walk.”

He has obviously never been to this area during school days. Not only is parking not orderly, but we residents cannot even approach our homes, much less garage our cars, because parents park in front of garages and then walk in with their children.

Needless to say, while we wait for parents to return to their cars, traffic congestion increases, people sound their horns and chaos is created.

Finally, if Buontempo witnessed an accident “a few years ago” why did he not speak out then?
