Stephen Hawking is to attend a red carpet premiere of a biopic of his life before answering questions from the public.
Hawking – the University of Cambridge physicist and author of A Brief History Of Time – has written and narrated the film which will be shown at the opening of the Cambridge Film Festival tonight.
After the screening he will take part in a question-and-answer session at the city’s Picturehouse cinema.
The screening and panel discussion will also be broadcast live via satellite link to more than 60 cinemas across the UK.
Co-produced by Channel 4, Hawking is the only official biographical account of his life, chronicling his extraordinary story in his own words for the first time.
Featuring interviews with Buzz Aldrin, Sir Richard Branson, Jim Carrey and Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as family members and close friends, the film is described as a celebration of Hawking’s life.
