A collection of mostly science fiction stories, Prisons No More is the third book published by Josephine Ciancio. The stories deal with a variety of topics that are inspired by the fantastical.

In the first story, from which the book takes its title, we find how society can still function without a prison system. In Planet Hell we find people living harmoniously on various planets but disaster strikes when they receive an ultimatum from the planet Hell.

In the next story, The Standbys, the protagonists have had their memory stolen, while in the story On the Road to the City we meet a mother who resorts to killing her child.

In Meat and Vengeance, the focus is on a scientist who creates genetically-modified beings, while in Serious Fun we meet a different kind of scientist, one intent on vindicating himself on other scientists.

The story Opening a Window deals with the ever-topical subject of air pollution, imagining what might happen if mankind does not take the necessary measures to avoid this pollution. In the story Pearls Down the Drain we see the hardships a political activist goes through.

The story The Reign of the Cyborgs is about artificial beings trying to take control of the world.
