Are we back to the scary eighties when soċjalisti aka marmalja took over the country’s culture and turned it into propaganda crap?

I’m seething away in horror at what is already happening just a few weeks after the labour victory at the polls. Granted that the victory was a ginormous one but does that give the Labour Movement carte blanche to descend to such horrendous pits? Do they never learn or change? Are they still in love with buckles and leather jackets after all—even if on the surface they love their Gucci trappings?

Let’s put some facts in focus before I’m accused of being a sore loser. The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts organises an annual festival which, I have always been told, was a wonderful celebration of what makes us really Maltese. I’ve never been too keen on it but if it is part of our folklore and culture then save it.

On Sunday there was a preview of the festival and some screamed and screeched their love for labour, singing the labour slogans to their heart’s content.

The organisers are seen lapping it all up when a young għannej also belts out his love for things with a laburist tinge. The Parliamentary Secretary for culture, in the clip I saw, also very obviously thought this was great. If this is culture and if this is where we are heading lord graciously hear us.

If the people in charge of Għanafest which turned into a Tagħnalkollfest do not immediately issue explanations, I really think they should move out and put more of the marmalja in place.

Life on this rock is surely and most sorely turning into a dream. If life under the PN was hell and this is paradise then God give me hell any day.
