Wizz Air will start operating a new Malta-Budapest route in May.

The largest low-cost airline in central and eastern Europe will initially operate two flights per week on the new route.

Flights between Malta and the Hungarian capital are now available for booking on wizzair.com. One-way fares (including taxes and booking fee) start from €27.99.

From May 17, flights will depart Malta for Budapest from 9.30am on Mondays and Fridays.

Wizz Air started its pan-European low-cost operations in 2004. It has grown to offer more than 250 routes across 30 countries connecting 84 destinations.

The company’s aim is to make flying on the West-East axis more affordable.

Daniel de Carvalho, Wizz Air’s corporate communications manager, said: “We expect our low fares to be a driving force in generating more tourism both in Hungary and Malta with our new route.”

“Maltese tourists will enjoy Hungary’s world class spas, dental and health care services as well as renowned gastronomy and wineries.”
