I am going to make a heart-felt appeal to all Nationalists, especially those who intend not to vote. Go out and vote at the next general elections. Is it possible that we have forgotten the hard times we passed through during the Labour administrations? Insults, beatings, shootings, frame-ups, arson and tear-gas.

Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it. There are three valid reasons for us Nationalists to vote PN again. 2014 it will be 50th anniversary of Malta’s Independence; in 2017 Malta will take over the presidency of the European Union; and in 2018 our capital city Valletta will become the cultural capital of Europe.

It is only the PN which is associated with these three great events in Malta’s history. It was the Nationalist Party that obtained independence in 1964 and acquired our European Union membership in 2004, and it is a PN government that is embellishing our capital city Valletta. All these achievements were made possible through great sacrifices, hardships and the capability of our Nationalist leaders. It is important to remember that a Labour government had removed Independence Day as a national holiday.

Therefore, pluck up courage dear Nationalist compatriots in order to celebrate these three great events when in government. Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi deserves this and he has led us with great maturity, capability and success through very difficult times.

I would like to ask one last question. Who is the most mature politically of the two leaders who are competing to be our Prime Minister for the next five years? The answer is obvious: Lawrence Gonzi.

Remember, it is better to say “uff” than “aħħ”!
