Gas cylinders remain as heavy as ever but, as of today, each one will lighten consumers’ pockets by €1.

Liquigas announced the price increases yesterday just as Finance Minister Tonio Fenech was telling the nation excise duty on fuel would rise as part of the 2013 Budget.

A 12kg gas cylinder will now cost €20.60, a €1 increase, while the larger 15kg cylinders will now sell for €25.80 rather than the €24.50 they used to.

Prices had also risen last month.

The price increases, Liquigas said, reflected continuously rising international gas prices. Consumers were urged to ensure distributors did not charge prices higher than those announced.
