If Norman Grech (November 2) had been fortunate enough, like myself, to be at the Cenotaph in London this Remembrance Sunday morning he might have readily appreciated, when Malta’s High Commissioner laid the wreath on behalf of the “George Cross island”, just how proud it made one feel to see Malta’s flag, with that very same George Cross, fluttering in the breeze.

For the Maltese in the crowd, the island’s incredible bravery was remembered with some sadness for all those who lost their lives fighting for Malta’s freedom.

As always, too, the BBC commentator gave Malta a special mention, including the words “awarded the George Cross for the outstanding bravery of her people”.

Yes, Mr Grech should be proud too.
