Workers at the Medicines Authority will not be processing medicine registration requests in line with industrial action ordered by the Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin.

The action was ordered following delays in concluding discussions over the collective agreement, the union said in a statement.

The union said it had tabled its proposals in 2010 and, so far, it had not received “tangible counter proposals”.

Staff members at the authority were ordered not to answer phones or reply to faxes and e-mails. They will not be engaging in any form of communication in dealing with the registration of medicines and the inspection or renewal of licences.
