Twenty youngsters from the Żgħażagħ Nazzarenu group of Sliema, along with their spiritual director Fr Charles Tabone, OP, recently spent four days doing voluntary work at the Arka Respite Centre at Għajnsielem.

The group carried out maintenance works that included servicing to the air-conditioning system and a number of vehicles, help in the running of the kitchen and cleaning of the complex and a substantial amount of whitewashing of the three-storey building.

The group also had the opportunity to help with caring for clients.

Dar Arka director Mgr Emanuel Curmi said the youths carried out invaluable work. Substantial savings were made thanks to this kind gesture, as thousands of euro are needed to provide accommodation to hundreds of people with disability throughout the year.
