Today, I expect another joke from Lawrence Gonzi and his GonziPN executive. After the joke when the Prime Minister ran the race for the leadership without first resigning, and then was the only contestant during the race, we recently had the second joke with the “Be a Prime Minister for a day” contest.

Very unfortunately, this memorable day came just one day after Dr Gonzi had lost a vote of no-confidence in Richard Cachia Caruana in Parliament!

Today, the GonziPN executive will be announcing strong measures which are to be taken against the three dissident MPs. As I have already predicted, I believe that Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Jesmond Mugliett will be told they cannot contest the general election on the GonziPN ticket, when these two MPs have already stated they will not be contesting the general election!

As to Franco Debono, GonziPN knows they do not dare tell him the same thing because he has already shown he wishes to contest the election. So GonziPN will try to find a face-saver which allows Dr Debono to keep hoping he will be allowed to contest the election while seeming to have also disciplined this maverick MP!

Of course, Dr Debono will realise that Dr Gonzi had managed to dupe him, when it is too late for him to do anything, as the election would have already been called!
