If one were to peep into most offices, one would realise that many are still very paper-based. Employees are often surrounded by heaps of paper; there is process chaos in filing and there is regular disorder in following-up in a timely manner.

Document management was the focus of the first in a series of seminars recently launched by the Alert Group aimed at helping participants understand how to make better use of IT solutions and technologies within their organisations.

Damian Heath, technical director at Alert Solutions, explained why and how an efficient document management system gives clients a rapid return on investment.

He was followed by international guest speaker and document management solutions specialist Barry Cochrane, who took the attendees through various business processes, including how to search and retrieve documents; how to store, index, and route automatically for online checking; coding and approval, as well as the type of documentation that could be managed.
