President George Abela this morning kicked off the 8th football marathon in aid of Puttinu Cares at the Marsa Sports Ground.

President Abela was assisted by Kayleigh, a 14-year-old girl who has just lost her feet to cancer.

The marathon kicked off this morning and continues until Sunday at 10 p.m.

Funds for Puttinu Cares are also being raised by the St Ignatius College Boys Secondary School of Handaq where a 14-hour long even was kicked off this morning.

Five MPs, all former students of Liceo Mikiel Anton Vassalli, are taking part. They are Carmelo Abela, David Agius, Gino Cauchi, Roderick Galdes and Philip Mifsud

The MPs cycled from St George's Square, Valletta to Qormi where they were joined by a group of former students, teachers and parents. From there, the entire group is running the final part of the challenge to the school.
