Qormi 3
Sliema Hotsticks 0

A quiet start to the game until the 11th minute when Sliema Hotsticks won the first penalty corner of the game.

They failed to capitalise, allowing high-flyers Qormi to counter attack immediately and Julian Zahra shot his team ahead in the 12th minute.

A period of midfield play followed and al-though Qormi won three penalty corners before half-time, the score remained unchanged.

Hotsticks won two short corners early in the second half but could not breach Qormi’s defence and in the 42nd minute Jonathan Borg netted Qormi’s second goal.

Despite the Hotsticks’ efforts, Qormi went further ahead in the 59th minute when Jonathan Borg scored his second and his team’s third as a result of a penalty corner action.

Qormi controlled the game from then on although the Hotsticks kept trying to reduce the arrears till the end.

Umpires: Luke Busuttil Leaver, Edward Hughes.

White Hart 2
Young Stars 5

For the second game in a row, White Hart took an early lead and after falling behind came close to equalising before being overwhelmed towards the end of the match.

This time, they went ahead through Mark Zahra and held their own until the 21st minute when Young Stars drew the scores level, Mark Camilleri scoring as a result of a penalty corner action.

The game ebbed and flowed until a period of sustained pressure from Young Stars saw them winning a series of penalty corners.

This produced a shot that hit the White Hart post and two goals through Mark Camilleri (31 mins) and Edward Hughes (33 mins), giving Young Stars a comfortable 3-1 lead at the half-time break.

White Hart reacted after the interval and reduced the arrears on 47 minutes when Karl Tua netted their second goal.

However, Camilleri then hit two more goals for Young Stars, in the 55th and 59th minutes, from two penalty corners to take his tally for the day to four and his team’s to five.

Conceding 12 penalty corners definitely contributed to White Hart losing this match by a wide margin.

Umpires: Josef Antonelli, Paul Brincat.
