I agree wholeheartedly with Maria Attard’s letter (December 19) regarding the need to resurface Main Street in Żebbuġ.

It has become practically impossible to leave the house whenever it rains as one ends up showered by cars driving through four inches of water. Doors and façades of houses in this street have suffered irreparable damage due to the fact that they are continually soaked with muddy water in winter or whenever it rains. The council, secretaries, the mayor, clerks and council members have been informed of this situation verbally and in writing numerous times over, at least, the last six years but to no avail. Adding insult to injury, a culvert from an adjoining street was made to flow to the exact spot where flooding is the most acute.

Before the council decides on the rebuilding of Vjal il-Ħelsien, which is good enough as it is, it should take the necessary measures to repair and/or solve the urgent problems of the residents in Main Street, who have been unjustly suffering consequences for so long.
