The Forum of Maltese Unions said it will continue fighting for representation on the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development throughout next year.

It said it will continue with its "sacred campaign" until the eve of the next general election, which was coming soon.

The Forum criticised the government for not giving its position on the matter.

The 11 unions within the Forum, it said, remained unrepresented in the MCESD, which had now become a full member of the European Trade Union Confederation.

Both the General Workers Union and the Union Haddiema Maghqudin did not object to the Forum gaining membership of the MCESD so the government should not continue to be such a hypocrite and so arrogant, it said.
