A series of training sessions for health care professionals is being offered as part of a sexual health strategy launched earlier this month.

Over 200 people have already attended the sessions. Addressing participants, Health Minister Joe Cassar said sexual health went way beyond sexually transmitted infections and that the World Health Organisation described it as a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. The sexual health policy, launched in November 2010, noted that lack of sexual health trained professionals in Malta formed a barrier in the management and prevention of sexual health problems.
