The Malta Tourism Authority walked away with the prestigious Best Destination Marketing Campaign Award during the World Routes Conference held in Berlin.

The MTA was short listed together with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the Jordanian Tourism Board and the Greek National Tourism Organisation.

The award was announced during the gala dinner held in the grounds of the new Brandenburg Airport due to open next year.

The World Routes Conference is an annual event and is recognised as the leading gathering of the world aviation industry players together with other stakeholders such as national, regional and city tourist authorities and boards.

The award recognised the way the MTA works very closely with the airport, the airlines and other operators.

“This award recognised the continuous efforts of MTA to ensure adequate accessibility to our islands,” the authority’s CEO Josef Formosa Gauci said.

Furthermore, during the Globus Awards in Frankfurt, the MTA’s German Office was awarded the ‘Second Best Destination E-Learning Programme for Travel Agents’. MTA Germany’s popular ‘Malta Academy’ scored second from among a total of 40 destination online training.
