Pace hits straight in Belgrade

Frans Pace, one of five Maltese shooters at the Euro Champion-ships in Belgrade, yesterday hit a straight of 25 clays in the first three rounds of the Trap competition.

Pace also had another good effort of 24 and a lower 21 in his two other rounds to end the day on 70, one clay ahead of compatriot Jason J. Aquilina (22+24+23).

Nicky Carabott managed 62 (21+22+19), George Cassar 65 (21+22+22) and Matthew Busuttil 60 (18+22+20).

The Trap shoot continues this morning when each shooter will fire another two rounds of 25. The top six qualify for the barrage final which will decide medal placings and Olympic quota slots.

In yesterday’s qualification round, there were 92 shooters taking part and four of them managed a remarkable full score of 75-75.
