During the Delicata Classic Wine Festival being held this weekend, visitors will be invited to participate in a new Delicata initiative – The People’s Choice Wine Awards.
The festival which is celebrating its 10 th year in Malta and the 9th in Gozo, attracts around 35,000 wine enthusiasts annually. For the first time this year, visitors will vote for their favourite Delicata wine by sending a text message expressing their preferred wine.
They can vote for as many wines as they like. Cases of quality DOK and IGT wine can be won.
At the end of next month, following the two wine festivals, Delicata will be announcing the results of the 2011 People’s Choice Wine Awards by identifying the winning red, white and rosé wines that received the most votes.
There are 23 wines to vote for, all available to taste once a glass is purchased. They include 10 white wines, six rosés and seven reds.
Tasters can SMS 50613906 and then text the given code (i.e. ABCD) of the particular wine they are voting for.
A complete list of the wines and their respective codes will be displayed on the nine wine stands at the festivals wine shop and at the information desk.
For those who wish to vote from the comfort of their home, when the festival is over, they can find the SMS numbers and a list of the wines and their relevant codes on www.delicata.com and the Delicata Facebook page.
Voting remains open until September 12. Each SMS costs €0.23c and is only open to adults over 17 years. The wines and their codes available to “taste & text” are:
