(Adds WasteServ's statement)

The foul smells from the abattoir or the incinerator at Albertown in Marsa have returned, the council said.

The Marsa council asked why these smells always returned in summer and called on the health authorities, Mepa and the Environment Ministry to take action for the inconvenience to stop.

In July last year, the council had held a news conference because of the smalls and Wasteserv had said these had been caused by meant which could not be incinerated until maintenance works on the incinerator were completed.

WASTESERV STATEMENT

In a statement this afternoon, WasteServ said the incinerator at Marsa is currently working under normal operating conditions.

"There are no unusual foul smells emanating from the plant as a result of any unforeseen maintenance or the high summer temperatures," it said.
