Angelina Jolie left Malta earlier today to travel to Turkey's border with Syria, where she will meet some of the more than 9,600 refugees who have fled a bloody crackdown on Syrian anti-government protesters.

The Hollywood actress, who is a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, is expected to arrive in the Turkish province of Hatay this afternoon.

In April, she travelled to Tunisia during its refugee crisis as thousands fled from its war-torn neighbour, Libya.
