Small cabin cruiser beached at Ghadira

A small cabin cruiser was beached at Ghadira Bay this afternoon.
People on the scene said the boat appeared to have suffered engine failure.
No one was injured.

Clearly it wasn't "BEACHED!"
It was DRIVEN ASHORE by the wind and waves.....

No, it did not suffer engine failure. The boat was tied up to a mooring in the bay and it's lines cut and it drifted on to the rocks near Maxima beach club. Simple as that. We were windsurfing/kitesurfing in the bay when it happened.

Was there no anchor on board? A 150 Metre nylon rope of 2 inch circumference and a 4 metres chain attached to a CQR anchor would have kept the boat from going aground.

It is normal under these condition to drop an anchor to stay out of trouble. So my question is , "Did the boat have an anchor and a short chain and a long line it would have dropped and stayed away from the beach till assistance came along through phoning 112!
