Thomas Cremona and his team of five other rowers are hoping to start their assault of the Atlantic Ocean rowing record tomorrow afternoon. They had hoped to start this evening but weather conditions proved unfavourable.

The six are currently resting at Tarfaya in Morocco after a row from Agadir which served to sharpen their rowing skills and teamwork.

Thomas, 22, told his father this morning that the highpoint of the row was how the boat was 'escorted' by dolphins on part of the way.

He also said that their performance during that trip made them more confident that they could beat the mid-Atlantic rowing record of 33 days, seven hours and 30 minutes, but the major unknowns were the weather and the accumulation of tiredness.

The six will be rowing the 11-metre Sara G for 5,000Km to Barbados.

Thomas a childhood cancer survivor, is using the activity to raise funds for Puttinu Cares.
