Everyone had to work to improve the country to ensure a fair and kind society, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said in his Christmas message.

Dr Gonzi said that everyone had to understand that in a competitive world, Malta had to offer the best and this had to be better than that of others.

This was the only way it could continue to attract the investment it needed to create employment, as had been done this year.

Dr Gonzi also paid tribute to the voluntary sector and thank those working in the education sector, who, he said, helped in the full development of children.
