Volunteers from over 20 local companies recently collaborated with Jugs and Friends to renovate the bedrooms at St Joseph’s Home, St Venera.

Teams from over 10 companies took on the task of painting the new rooms. A few days later, volunteers from another 10 companies assembled the furniture and added the final touches.

Jugs and Friends is a new concept launched by Gianni Zammit and Josef Gafa of creative team building and event organising company Jugs Malta Ltd.

“Jugs and Friends has been our agenda for a while now. We have always wanted to be able to give a little back to the community and wanted to create an event together with our clients as we believe that collectively we are able to take projects on and make a marked difference,” said Mr Zammit.

The boys bedrooms at St Joseph’s Home had been subjected to wear and tear over the years and some were in need of upgrading.

“The home onced housed over 200 children in large dormitories. Today we firmly believe individuality and catering for every child’s individual needs is essential and much of today’s work goes towards mitigating the effects of institutionalisation on our young men.

“Each and every one of these 18 boys needs to feel important and deserving of love and nurture. That is any child’s right,” said St Joseph’s Home director Fr Frankie Cini.

The Jugs team worked on the project for over two months.
