Thomas Cremona has started an attempt to break the record for the longest continual row by rowing for 24 hours.

He settled himself in a rowing machine in Bay Street at Noon in an attempt which will also see him raise funds for Puttinu Cares Foundation.

Additional rowing machines are available for for those who wish to join him for some time.

The record Mr Cremona is planning to break is known as the Concept2 'Longest Continual Row' and the category he will be contesting in is the 'Individual Men 20-29 Heavyweight' (Heavyweight as he currently weighs over 75kg).

The current world record is held by Vincent Brunning, Plymouth, Great Britain and was established on the 22-23 October 2009 and currently stands at 20 hours.

Thomas is part of a team of six persons (3 Irish, 1 British, 1 Icelandic and 1 Maltese) who will be rowing the ‘Sara G’ from Morocco to Barbados next month.
