A woman told a court today that she had forgiven her 30-year-old daughter for having stolen her jewellery to fund a drug habit.

Emanuela Farrugia gave evidence during the hearing of a case instituted against her daughter Rona Galea, who was accused of stealing several items of gold jewellery from her mother's house in Siggiewi.

Ms Galea was placed under a two-year probation order and ordered to follow a drug rehabilitation programme.
