Inter's new coach Rafael Benitez is playing down differences with his predecessor Jose Mourinho, rejecting the Italian media tag of the "anti-Mourinho."

"Mourinho did a great job here," said Benitez at a Tuesday press conference, praising the new Real Madrid coach.

"There are differences," said the former Liverpool coach, but they were outweighed by both men's commitment to winning.

"I like to see good football if possible and I also like to win, so I don't think things will be that different," he said.

"I try to do the best I possibly can."

He said he was impressed by the attitude to football in Italy where the people "literally live the game," even joking about being stalked by the paparazzis on holiday in Sardinia.

Inter confirmed last week that they had signed Benitez, 50, on a two-year contract from Liverpool to replace Mourinho, who led Inter Milan to an historic treble of successes in Italy's Serie A championship, the Italian Cup and Champions League.

According to London's Daily Telegraph, Benitez intends to bring to Milan several members of his Liverpool backroom staff, including his number two Mauricio Pellegrino, physical trainer Paco de Miguel and goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero.
