HSBC celebrated 10 successful years of operations in Malta, with a commitment to plant a tree for each of the bank's employees - 1,500 trees.

The first 10 trees were symbolically planted earlier this month at the former Magħtab landfill where currently a rehabilitation project is underway to restore the site to its original state. The rest of the trees will be planted early next year. Since 34U campaign started, HSBC has planted over 25,000 trees as part of the nationwide afforestation project.

"Ten years is an important milestone for HSBC in Malta and I am delighted to mark the occasion with the commitment of the planting of trees for each and every one of our staff. Over the last decade we have planted over 25,000 trees through various initiatives and we are very proud of the HSBC team's ongoing commitment to the environment," said Alan Richards, HSBC Malta's CEO.
