Enemalta rebuts union statement
Enemalta Corporation has expressed concern at a statement released by the General Workers' Union earlier this afternoon.
In its statement, which followed a statement by the corporation chairman following a power outage across Malta, the GWU accused the chairman of trying to implicate the workers in sabotage which caused this morning's power cut.
Enemalta said that its chairman did not refer to anyone, let alone the employees of Enemalta.
"Actually it is the GWU itself which is involving Enemalta employees, and not the chairman."
Enemalta reiterated that a police and a magisterial inquiry were currently underway to determine the cause of the incident.
Any further comments at this stage were uncalled for, it said.

and who was present in the power station at that time? surely, only enemalta workers. so its obvious that the chairman was refering to his workers. and why should any enemalta worker dream of performing such subotage? the hottest news before the explosion were the facts that came out late in the evening from the tv programme 'disset' about the grossly exagerated salaries of the high regime at enemalta who have salaries higher then the prime minister; but due to this explosion all media turned their focus back on marsa power station and it's workers! so who really benefited from this black out? mr. tranter, don't go thanking the workers for their work to restore electricity back in such short time, if your enquiry gives a 'no subotage result'. your workers do not need yor thank you. they need your trust.

@michael vella& co
Where you fast asleep yeterday an just woken up??
It was the chairman of enemalta that in his statement yesterday gave the impression that it was a Sabotage case while the police did not even finish their investigation and it as after that, that the GWU protested to defend the workers.
Or do you seem to know who did it??

'IL-HMAR IWAHHAL F'DENBU'. We keep pointing fingers at GWU or at the workers or to whatever happened. All I know is that we have 2 power stations on this tiny island. One is an ancient one and soon will be given protection by U.N.E.S.C.O and the other one built new by this goverment to serve all Malta and send to pension the Marsa Power Station. Still in 2009 a circuit breaker exploded in Marsa power station and more than half Malta ends up without electricity including the STATE OF THE ART HOSPITAL that costed us millions of euros. I think the police dont need to investigate anything and I came to the solution of whom is the responsability. I would like to know which places of Malta delimara power station is serving? Now its easy for Mr Tranter and company to point fingers at someone but the truth is that Enemalta is inefficient and that Delimara Power Station till now is proving that it was waste of money. Thanks

@Micheal Vella,Suppose if the inquiry will result of non sabotage than what next would the Chairman say,of course than he would thanks all employees that in less than 2 hours electricity had been provide in some localities .Please, people in the street should understand than none of the employees should make such a thing to cut the power electricity ,have you ever experienced an electricity fault at home such an MCB ,than you loose power and that's will be the same reason if the circuit breaker was FAULTY!!!!

gwu dont try to shield your members from a criminal inquiry. If it is true that sabotage is involved, (IF IT IS TRUE) then let the full force of the law come down on those involved be they who they are even if they are GWU members who are doing their utmost to put the Corporation in bad light as always.

The following is the extract of the Chairman's interview as reported by this paper early this afternoon, under the following heading - Police investigating power outage, power restored to all areas
"This, he said, was not the first time that such incidents happened while Enemalta was being discussed on television or in Parliament and he hoped that the police investigation would establish the facts. He said that Enemalta at this point could not comment further on the cause of the explosion."
If this is not an implication by Mr Tranter that foul play is suspected, I do not know why Police are involved as they are not technically specialised to do a technical inquiry and further more the fact that Mr Tranter opted to mention that Enemalta is being discussed on television and parlament is a clear implication of a suspicion of something which is not technical related.
I'm sorry, the man in the street must have understood that foul play is not excluded according to Enemlata Authorities. And who can do any foul play in a secure area such as the Power Station, except the persons who have access.

Typical of the GWU really. Instead of waiting for the facts from a Police and Magisterial Inquiry, they come out accusing people. My question here is, why did the GWU feel the need to issue a statement when there is an official investigation going on?
If this action was performed by an employee or otherwise, the GWU should be condemning this, because, businesses in Malta lost countless hours of productivity this morning, which has an adverse on any business and can harm the livelihood and employment of workers who could possibly be the very people the GWU supposedly protects. What bloody hypocracy!!!
