The Malta Institute of Management (MIM) is organising a seminar entitled 'Islamic trusts' on Wednesday from 5 to 7.45 p.m. at the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, St Julian's.

The seminar attracts high quality speakers and delegates, including MIM chairman Reuben Buttigieg, Mario Farrugia Borg and Toby Birch.

Mr Buttigieg, who is also Erremme Business Advisors' managing director, said: "Muslims created trusts from the earliest times of the Islamic era for various purposes. In our era, a trust is created through a legal process of registration that requires the legal expertise of attorneys and other professionals.

"Malta with its Trusts and Trustees Act has an opportunity to provide such a service to the Islamic community in the Mediterranean. The 1.5 million muslims in Italy as well as in other Mediterranean countries do not have the appropriate legislation at hand."

The seminar, which has been accredited with 1.5 hours of structured Continuous Professional Education (CPE) and qualifies for the attainment of professional competencies in terms of the Malta Institute of Accoutnants CPE Regulations, is being held in cooperation with various organisations.
