Nicky Farrugia has been forced to call off his second attempt to break the Enduroman Arch to Arc world record because of persistent bad weather over the English Channel.

The challenge was to run, swim and cycle between Marble Arch in London and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris in under 81 hours 5 minutes.

He completed his run from Marble Arch to Dover, a distance of 140km, in 24hrs, 47mins and 47sec last Sunday. It was planned that he would rest a number of hours before he attempted to swim across the English Channel and cycle to Paris. But the attempt had to be cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions.

Eddie Ette, the current world record holder and one of the organisers of the event commented :- ‘It is my belief the only reason the Enduroman Arch to Arc record did not go to Nicky was due to the British weather and English Channel being too rough. I look forward to seeing Nicky again and hope he has the chance to show to all that he can get the Enduroman Arch to Arc record. He would be a great ambassador to the sport.’

Although very disappointed, Nicky said he still determined to go for the world record and has in fact already booked the event for August 2010.

‘Unfortunately it was not meant to be this year but God willing I will be back again next year.’

In his first attempt Mr Farrugia was pulled out of the English Channel just one from the french coast.
