Manchester United captain and England international Gary Neville has joined The Sunday Times' team of columnists.

Mr Neville, 34, who has a long-standing connection with Malta, will be writing a weekly football column from next Sunday.

Mr Neville said: "The Sunday Times is an institution in Malta and I'm delighted to be writing a column for its readers every week.

"My love of Malta is well known and I hope to give you a real insight into what is happening at Manchester United and in the Premier League."

The player will also be fielding questions from readers, who may ask him any football-related questions by sending an e-mail to sunday@timesofmalta.com with subject title 'Gary Neville'.

With 85 England caps to his name, Mr Neville has skippered Manchester United to several Premier League titles, making almost 580 appearances for the club in the process. Together with Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, Mr Neville will also be investing in the Island Hotels Group when it launches an equity and bond issue in the coming weeks.

The Sunday Times interviewed the two Premiership stars in Manchester last week. The interview is expected to be published and uploaded on www.timesofmalta.com on September 13.

Mr Neville's weekly contribution will complement James Calvert's sports column.
