Magistrate Silvio Meli has been elected executive member of the Association of European Competition Law Judges.

The election was made at the association's eighth annual conference, held in the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation and in the Superior Council of Magistracy in Rome earlier this month.

The conference focused on the theme of concurrence of justice and its effects on intellectual property. The main speakers included the President of the Supreme Courts, Vincenzo Carbone, and former Italian Prime Minister Giuliano Amato.

Magistrate Meli is the national president of the Commission for Fair Trading and has written various articles and also a book compiling the commission's judgements.
