Labour's Clifton Grima is the new mayor of Msida having been elected by 783 votes on the first count. Former mayor Alexander Sciberras did not recontest.

The quota was set at 549. Mr Grima is the third newcomer to be elected mayor, after Philip Vella (PL) in Sannat and Samuel Azzopardi (PN) in Victoria.

Labour managed to hold to the locality after a tight contest with the PN. It won the locality from the PN three years ago.

Leli Abela and Margaret Baldacchino Cefai, both PL, were elected on the 10th count. Carmel Grima, PN, was elected on the 13 count and Charles Selvaggi, also PN, on the 14th. Emanuel Brincat, PL, was elected on the 16th count.
