Suncrest Hotel changes its name
The Suncrest Hotel in Qawra has changed its name to Seashells Resort at Suncrest, but a hotel spokesman said there had been no change of ownership or management.
Earlier today the UHM said it regretted that the hotel's name had been changed without consultation with its tourism section or the workers and said the workers should be informed what the change implied.
A spokesman for the hotel told timesofmalta.com that the hotel was still owned by Suncrest plc and the change was felt necessary with the introduction of a new all inclusive package.

The company is registered as Suncrest Hotels plc and that has not changed. The hotel's name was The Suncrest Hotel and now Seashells resort at Suncrest. Thus only the hotel's name has changed and not its registration.. re employers/employees/creditors/debtors nothing has changed.

Because, for example, they may be considered to be employed with a new company and their years of services will be disregarded in case there are problems and they will all be considered as having been new entrants all entering at the same time, so the last in first out principle will not operate.

Simple JOhn.
The employees would be considered as if a new company had been formed and their service would not be counted. That is one point John.

Why is it that unions are always suspicious? How does the change in name concern the union? What we need is a good dose of Thatcherism.

Call it whatever they like, locally it will still be known as the Suncrest - Its like calling a Flat an Apartment - basically it is still a Flat.

Couldn't they just call it the Suncrest Resort? The Seashells Resort at Suncrest is too long a name anyway and it sounds tacky. Reminds me of silly seashell souvenirs.
