A 22-year-old man from Cospicua this afternoon denied in court that he was an accomplice in the attempted murder of Charles Zammit in a hold-up at Birkirkara on April 13.

The hold-up took place at a mobile phones outlet in Psaila Street. Mr Zammit suffered an injured hand when he was shot at five times.

Matthew Mizzi was also charged with possession of a firearm, handling stolen property, holding Mr Zammit against his will and causing €1,164 damage to the shop.

He was remanded in custody.
