"And Francis, go and repair our house..." is the mission Our Lady Immaculate School, Ħamrun, has chosen for this scholastic year. Since 1938, the Church school has worked hard to instil in its students an academic yearn for learning while ensuring that the education and values that are passed on to all are based on the Catholic faith.

A number of activities during this scholastic year are aimed at instilling in the students and the whole school community a desire for helping others in various ways.

Earlier this month, students, teachers, members of the administrative staff and the nuns signed their name on a T-shirt as a sign of commitment towards working as one family towards the same goal. The T-shirt was offered during a Mass held at the start of the year.

The "Adopt-a-child" scheme was also launched. Families within the school community, including all members of staff, are currently donating money which will go towards adopting two children from Egypt. The country was chosen to commemorate the 150th anniversary since the foundation of the Franciscan Missionaries by Mother Troiani in Egypt.

Another activity which was organised on the feast of St Francis was the blessing of animals. The students, with the collaboration of Wied Inċita, "adopted" seeds. At the end of the year, the students will have planted the seed, took care of the new plant, and placed it in a public place within the school.

The Our Lady Immaculate School of Ħamrun caters for girls attending Grade 1 up to Form 5. It is run by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The school's head is Audrey Galea.
