The Students' Council of the St Theresa College Girls' Junior Lyceum, Mrieħel, has for a long time yearned to have its own radio. This wish came true on October 10, when KST Radio transmitted for the first time.

The project became a reality when the council held a meeting with the Students' Council of the Birkirkara Boys' Secondary School, which forms part of the St Theresa College. One of the activity sessions carried out by the boys' school involved the preparation of radio programmes for students. This set the ball rolling and by the beginning of the present scholastic year, the schools formed a joint venture, and the radio was initiated.

The girls at St Theresa Junior Lyceum prepared a jingle, and thanks to various meetings with the boys from the same college, the first programme was put forward. Two students, one from each school, Keziah and Steve, were chosen as presenters for the first radio transmission.

The girls decided to name the radio KST, which stands for Kulleġġ Santa Tereża. It was decided by the two schools to link this activity with the European Day for Parents and Schools. Parents forming part of the school council of both schools were invited and interviewed about their views with regards the school radio. The parents agreed that this radio should be both educational as well as entertaining to all students. For the time being, transmissions will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays, with the boys taking part every other Friday, as part of their activity sessions.

Present for the inauguration ceremony were St Theresa College principal Frank Fabri, Birkirkara Boys' Secondary School head Helen Borg and Girls' Junior Lyceum head Robert Borg. Sonya Young from RTK radio also congratulated the students on this new initiative.
