Why is Gozo still missing out on land-based "general aviation services" apart from the current seaplane air link, however dependant this is on the sea state at Mġarr Harbour, and operating only from Grand Harbour?

Residents from both sides of the channel and incoming visitors alike have no rapid air link option to connect with scheduled flights at Malta International Airport. Having to plan long hours ahead, many skip Gozo.

Why is Gozo missing out on so many visiting light aircraft that would need a multitude of services, such as car rentals, hotels or farmhouse lodging, catering, fuel and maintenance services etc... an up-market tourism niche untapped and never taken seriously even at MIA?

Why not serve as a training airfield for the local busy flight schools, relieving MIA from light slow traffic, which would generate much revenue for airstrip usage and stopovers as well as create aviation related professional jobs in Gozo?

Why can the Gozo Civil Protection based at the helipad/airstrip not be provided with an effective aerial resources potential in the event of an offshore emergency to assist existing very limited assets based at MIA?

This could lead to the creation of a Civil Air Patrol using the many local light aircraft willing to contribute in line with a sensible plan, as is done in Italy and worldwide.

Why keep a derelict heliport idle for so long, when it was possible to convert it to a small airstrip next to an existing dirt road, if not to attract dumping, irregular development and parked trailers?

Do the current Gozo administrators really understand the true potential of general aviation which can stimulate the island's inconsistent economy and the time it saves to cross the channel directly to MIA or to Europe?
